However, as is the case with only a few, the term is a protected concept for a „protected area in which the company to be sold provides a collection of documents for the purpose of due diligence (DD)“. The abbreviation is used rather rarely, also in the country of origin USA. Some vendors in Germany prefer the „VDR service“. Others also want to emphasize the issue of security. Dataroom is the international name, data room of the common German: The „virtual“ underlines that it is a digital room, in which the documents are available for viewing and download protected.
